Around 2:20PM EST, y’all will hear an also familiar loud, screeching, screaming like sound on y’all’s flat screen TVs, car radios, or iPhones. Don’t be alarm, folks! It’s just the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) doing a nationwide test of the alert systems.

The alert systems that are being tested are the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The EAS is the system FEMA uses in order to send alerts to folks’ TVs and radios, while the WEA is the system used for alerts going to folks’ cell phones.

Make sure that the TV, radio, or cell phones are all in the language that y’all speak or understand because that is the language that will be saying or displaying these words, “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.”

Just to be clear, the FEMA folks said that one will be the one used for the TV and the radio. The one used for the cell phones, according to the FEMA folks , will have these following words, “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

The alert that y’all see and or hear will last for a minute which means that y’all will only miss a small bit of the show y’all are watching!

In all seriousness, FEMA needs to make sure it’s alert systems are working because these are the systems FEMA uses to tell folks that a hurricane or a tornado is a coming or that dangerous humans, or other animals, are on the loose.
